TypTap, UPC deal helps HCI top line rise 109% in Q4

HCI more than doubled its gross written premium in the fourth quarter of 2020 to $139.3mn, largely due to growth in the Homeowners’ Choice division and TypTap, the carrier’s wholly owned flood InsurTech.

Despite increased losses after Storm Eta struck in the quarter, HCI still turned a $2.7mn profit, although this was down from the $6.4mn
