Australian insurers Suncorp and Insurance Australia Group (IAG) have received thousands of claims following dramatic flooding in New South Wales (NSW), as reinsurers brace for potential treaty impact.

Around 18,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in the region, including from the country’s largest city, Sydney, with roads, bridge and houses damaged following flooding said to be the worst in the area for 60 years.
