Global (re)insurers booked $26bn in Covid-19 losses in 2020, but a high degree of uncertainty remains around the ultimate pandemic cost, according to Willis Re.

In a market update today, the intermediary said the uncertainty stemmed from the large proportion of losses that had been incurred but not reported (IBNR) from the pandemic.
