Guy Carpenter chairman David Priebe said that pandemic risk is insurable – just not in the way that the industry thinks of insuring risk today – as he forecast that progress on public-private insurance facilities will pick up in the later part of this year.

(Re)insurers can get involved in tackling pandemic exposures by taking clearly defined risks within certain geographies or in public private partnerships (PPP), he said.
