Willis Re’s Vickers: ILS penetration of Japanese market holds steady

The ILS share of the Japanese property reinsurance market for 2021 remained largely in line with last year at the 1 April renewal, according to Willis Re International chairman James Vickers.

Speaking to this publication alongside the publication of the broker’s First View 1 April report, Vickers noted that Japanese cedants are “conservative” and that ILS does not have a heavy presence in Japan.
