Lloyd’s December pledge for a phased market retreat from the underwriting of certain fossil fuel assets demonstrated that the concept of “net-zero underwriting” had permeated beyond the biggest listed carriers.

The declaration came just after Axa CEO Thomas Buberl had proposed a “net-zero underwriting alliance” to complement a parallel pact for investment.
