TWIA decreases reinsurance cover 8% to $1.9bn at renewal

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) has lowered its reinsurance cover at renewal by 8% to $1.93bn of limit for the 2021 hurricane season.

The organisation had $2.1bn in place for the 2020 and 2019 seasons, marking a decrease of $170mn.

TWIA’s funding sources included a combination of traditional reinsurance contracts and catastrophe bonds.
