G7 nations pledge funds to mitigate climate risk in vulnerable communities

The UK, Germany and US have announced plans to “scale up” protection for communities across the world that are most vulnerable to extreme weather and disaster events exacerbated by climate change.

The plans include a package with £120mn ($169mn) of new funding from the UK and EUR125mn ($151mn) from Germany to enable quicker responses to help areas hit by extreme weather and climate-linked disasters.
