EU and UK cat damages left by climate change could double by 2050: Eiopa

Climate-related EU and UK cat damages could almost double to more than EUR45bn ($53.3bn) by 2050 if temperatures rise by 1.5°C, according to the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (Eiopa).

The organisation’s June 2021 Financial Stability Report said annual damage costs could rise from the 1981-2010 baseline of EUR22.8bn,
