Aon and Willis abort $30bn merger in the teeth of DoJ opposition

Aon and Willis Towers Watson have terminated their $30bn mega merger in the face of opposition from the Department of Justice (DoJ) in a move that will send shock waves through the sector.

To quell inevitable speculation about the future of Aon CEO Greg Case and CFO Christa Davies, Aon's board has simultaneously extended the contracts of the pair by three additional years to April 2026.
