Quiet hurricane season July doesn’t suggest a mild August: BMS

The tropical Atlantic has been quiet since July 7, marking the third period in history since 1955 that the Atlantic basin has seen no named storms from July 10 through August 9, according to BMS Ssenior VP and meteorologist Andrew Siffert.

Siffert, writing in the BMS tropical update on August 9, said the quiet period contrasts last year’s Atlantic hurricane season, which was extremely active within the comparative period.
