AJ Gallagher has struck a deal to acquire Willis Re for $3.25bn, as Willis Towers Watson takes steps to minimise the damage to the overall group caused by the collapse of its mega-merger with Aon.

The announcement from the companies confirms prior stories from Inside P&C on 2 August, and a follow-up earlier this week to report that the deal was imminent.
