NHC issues tropical storm warning for Florida Keys as Fred may strengthen

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a tropical storm warning for the Florida Keys and Bay, as well as the stretch of beach that incorporates the city of Fort Myers, as the tropical depression Fred looks set to hit in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Slow strengthening of the storm is expected during the next couple of days, and it could become a tropical storm later on Friday.
