Allstate pegs July cat losses at $227mn

Insurer Allstate has estimated $227mn of pre-tax catastrophe losses for July, up from $145mn in the same month in 2020.

Excluding prior-period reserve charges, the Illinois-based company estimated total cat losses at $211mn from 18 events.

The carrier also estimated an after-tax cat loss figure of $179mn, rising from $115mn in July of last year.
