Ratings agency AM Best has said that the (re)insurance industry should be able to absorb losses from Hurricane Ida without impacting capital positions.

The agency said that the track of the storm close to New Orleans made it likely that commercial lines would be more heavily affected than in the case of Hurricane Laura last year.
