Hurricane Ida highlights ‘conspiracy of silence’ over climate change: Brindle

Hurricane Ida is the latest in a series of cat events to flag the industry-wide “conspiracy of silence” over climate change and overreliance on “pretty much meaningless” stochastic models, according to Fidelis CEO Richard Brindle.

Brindle said in an interview with Insurance Insider that he anticipated Ida would be a $25bn-$30bn loss, well above the $18bn spot and $21bn mid-point estimates from Karen Clark & Company and AIR Worldwide respectively.
