Aggregate retro capacity contracted $1.3bn in 2021: Guy Carp

Aggregate retro capacity dropped by 18.0%, or $1.25bn, this year, Guy Carpenter estimated, as the broker said that retro rate increases had stalled by mid-year ahead of recent cat loss events.

Surprise losses like Uri had contributed to slower investor interest, the broker said.

It estimated aggregate retro renewal rates ranged from 5% down to 7.5%
