Inland floods from Hurricane Ida in both the northeast and southern US will cost insurers from $2.5bn to $5bn, AIR Worldwide estimated.

This pushes the modelling firm’s total insured loss estimate for the disaster to a range of $20bn-$30bn.

Its figures compare with a $1bn-$1.5bn
