Cat loss ratios likely to exceed budgets: Jefferies

With insured cat losses YTD running at 15% above the long-term average and the Atlantic hurricane season escalating, cat loss ratios are increasingly likely to exceed budgets, according to Jefferies equity analyst Philip Kett.

Kett's August report estimated that global insured cat losses over the month were almost 3.8x higher than the 10-year average, almost entirely due to Hurricane Ida.
