Cat bond volumes reached $1.3bn in the third quarter, the second highest for a generally quiet time for the ILS market in the past five years, as investors took a disciplined stance on some higher risk deals that came to market.

The quarter was notable for its skew towards low-risk diversifiers and produced more even-handed pricing outcomes after fierce pressure on spreads earlier this year.
