Reinsurance MGA Kettle has incorporated balance sheet entity Kettle Re in Bermuda and is poised to begin a fundraise for a collateralised reinsurer, with a view to growing a property catastrophe book initially focusing on high-value homeowners’ California wildfire risk.

This comes as it has hired Amit Shah, formerly head of specialty at Ariel Re, as distribution director to be based out of Bermuda.
