The cat bond market saw a record annual issuance of $12.5bn in 2021, according to an Aon note marking the industry’s 25th anniversary, with figures on its steady growth since 1996.

Aon’s figures show that more than $32bn of cat bonds are now active in the market, with $117bn issued during the past 25 years.
