IAG swings back into profits despite natural perils costs rising by 135%

IAG was hit with natural perils costs of A$681mn ($489mn) in the first half of its fiscal year from July to December 2021, coming nearly A$300mn above its net allowance for the period.

The bulk of costs came from thunderstorms in Australia in October 2021, as well as thunderstorms in Queensland and New South Wales.
