Lodgepine president Brent Slade has also left Markel after the insurer put the retro platform in run-off, after it emerged that the unit’s CEO Andrew “Barney” Barnard is set to leave the carrier as well, sources said.

Markel confirmed Slade’s prior departure and noted that a team remained in place to wind down the platform.

Slade joined Lodgepine in 2019 from Hamilton Capital Partners where he was a senior vice president.
