Aon expects cat bond momentum, market wary on aggregates

Strong momentum is expected to continue into 2022 in the cat bond market, given the combination of a hardening rate environment and $7bn of cat bond capital coming off-risk to be redeployed, Aon said in its Q4 2021 quarterly ILS report.

The broker also flagged the potential entry of more non-reinsurance sponsors as cat bonds show they are a viable option for governments and corporates, after several such deals in 2021.
