Direct Line boosts reinsurance retention in motor and property cat

Direct Line group increased its retention in its motor reinsurance programme from £1mn to £5mn after elevating its property cat deductible last July.

This is the highest motor deductible since 2010 and the highest property deductible since 2017.

Its property cat treaty retention rose from £130mn to £150mn last year, when it renewed the £1.15bn
