A Bermuda court has sanctioned Markel’s proposal to buy out Markel Catco’s investors of their holdings in the retro fund, as the insurer will take over the final run-off of liabilities.

The transaction remains subject to the grant of orders by the US Bankruptcy Court recognising and enforcing the buyout schemes.
