Estimated losses from the recent Australia floods have hit A$2.4bn ($1.7bn), according to the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA).

Insurers received 159,320 claims in relation to events in South East Queensland and New South Wales, a 1.2% increase from estimates on 22 March.
