Demotech has downgraded Florida insurer FedNat’s financial stability rating (FSR) to ‘S’ (substantial) from ‘A’ (exceptional) on Friday, putting more homeowners at risk for losing coverage.

The downgrade was attributed to weather claims from Louisiana and Texas following the company’s expansion into those markets.
