UPC lines up 75% of shrinking $2.2bn reinsurance programme

UPC said it had lined up 75% of a smaller $2.2bn occurrence reinsurance programme for 2022, with wind and earthquake peril coverage only for excess layers.

This comes as cascading aggregate coverage was phased out of many Florida treaties last year, and after minor-peril losses have been problematic for reinsurers in the state in recent years.
