AM Best has affirmed Lumen Re’s financial strength rating of A, helped by an “adequate” operating performance which it said reflected the reinsurer’s move to start de-risking and re-underwriting after 2021 losses.

Lumen Re took increased losses from peak and secondary peril events in 2021, the ratings agency noted, without specifying further.
