Canadian derecho caused C$875mn of damage: CatIQ

The May derecho storm which hit Quebec and Ontario is the sixth-largest insured loss event in Canadian history, causing over C$875mn ($677mn) of damage, according to initial estimates from Catastrophe Indices and Quantification (CatIQ).

Damage in Ontario is estimated to be worth over C$720mn, and C$155mn in Quebec.

The derecho caused damage to property, extensive power outages and loss of life.
