Allstate expands Florida cat limit, first layer falls short on placement

Allstate has grown its private reinsurance programme for Florida subsidiary Castle Key by almost $600mn up to an exhaustion point of $1.8bn, versus $1.2bn in 2021.

It also disclosed that 29% of its layer below the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF) was unplaced, illustrating the challenges in securing attritional level risk in the state in the past renewal.
