Growth in cyber ILS will be slow in the short-to-medium term despite the market offering investors an opportunity similar to that in natural catastrophe risk in the 1990s, S&P Global Ratings has said.

The agency noted that investors had “learned the hard way they can be exposed to perils they had not fully modelled and/or priced for”, hence their reluctance.
