The first half of 2022 was the most volatile period for (re)insurance capital since the financial crisis, which could have “huge implications” for capacity, pricing and the market cycle, according to analysis by Howden.

The broker said composite sector capital stood at $552bn in the first half of 2022, down from a figure of $719bn in 2021.
