Ian to bring Cat-1 hurricane conditions to Carolina coast

Hurricane Ian is to unleash hurricane conditions as well as life-threatening storm surge along the Carolina coast today, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has forecast.

In its 08:00 ET update, the NHC said Ian is currently around 105 miles south-southeast of Charleston, South Carolina, moving north-northeast at 9 mph and producing winds of 85 mph, classing it as a Cat-1 hurricane.
