Florida is set to be battered by further poor weather in the coming days as Subtropical Storm Nicole bears down on the state, risking coastal flooding, high winds and heavy rainfall.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said the storm could be close to hurricane strength when it reaches Florida on Wednesday or Thursday, after tracking over the Bahamas.
