Citizens’ Ian loss estimate surges over $1bn to $3.8bn based on second model

Florida Citizens has upped its loss estimate from Hurricane Ian by more than $1bn to $3.8bn, factoring in additional provisions for litigation and inflation, as well as claims activity to date.

The disclosure marks a stark increase from the original loss pick of $2.3bn-$2.6bn, which was based on the results of a single hurricane model.
