A 6.4 magnitude earthquake hit parts of Northern California on Tuesday morning, leaving tens of thousands of residents without power, according to local reports.

The earthquake hit at a depth of nearly 18 kilometers near the coast of Northern California at 05:30 ET, according to the US Geological Survey.
