Reinsurers were optimistic that the momentum for rate increases will continue to be strong as mid-year renewals approach, as Convex executive chairman Stephen Catlin said he had “never seen a market quite like this” in the past 50 years.

“I’ve never seen the opportunity for [the market cycle] to have as much ‘legs’ as it potentially will have,” he said, speaking at the Bermuda Risk Summit.
