Perils, the industry-wide catastrophe insurance data provider, has estimated the total loss for Cyclone Gabrielle, which hit New Zealand in February 2023, at NZ$1.543bn ($960.8mn).

Gabrielle battered the North Island with extreme rainfall and strong winds from 11-17 February, just weeks after severe flooding that affected Auckland and surrounding areas of the North Island.
