US thunderstorms push global insured cat losses to $52bn in H1: Gallagher Re

Global insured nat cat losses hit $52bn in the first half of 2023, driven by US severe convective storm losses of $34bn, according to research from Gallagher Re.

The broker said nat cat losses came in 39% above the average figure of $38bn for the 21st century, and 18% above a decadal average of $44bn.
