Swiss Re P&C re H1 profit triples to $904mn on lower cat losses

Swiss Re’s P&C re unit has reported net profit for H1 of $904mn, almost triple that of the prior-year period, as it benefited from lower cat losses and better investment performance than in the prior-year period.

At group level, Swiss Re reported net profit of $1.4bn, a return to normality after the $157mn result at the same point last year, when the company was hit by a run of cat claims and Ukraine losses.
