Insured losses from Hawaiian wildfires estimated at $3.2bn: KCC

Modeling firm Karen Clark & Company (KCC) has pegged insured property losses from the Lahaina Fire at $3.2bn in today’s property values – just under the $3.3bn in losses caused by Hurricane Iniki in 1992.

“The majority of damaged structures were residential buildings, though many commercial buildings were damaged as well,” KCC said.

“The high proportion of wood frame and older construction present in the Lahaina building inventory likely contributed to the high damageability rates...
