Perils ups third Gabrielle loss estimate to over NZ$2bn

Cyclone Gabrielle, which struck the North Island of New Zealand in February, has caused losses of NZ$2.018bn ($1.12bn), according to catastrophe insurance data provider Perils.

The figure marks a 4.5% increase on its previous tally, which estimated the loss had risen to NZ1.93bn. Perils’ initial estimate was NZ$1.54bn.
