Industry insured loss estimates to date from Hurricane Otis, which hit the Mexican west coast at Category 5 strength this month, range from $1.8bn-$6.5bn, according to an AM Best report published today. 

In a recent commentary, AM Best cited news reports which estimated the potential economic losses from the storm at $15bn.
