IAG joins Federal Government cyclone reinsurance pool

Australian insurer IAG has joined the Federal Government’s cyclone reinsurance pool as it looks to reduce premiums for policyholders in cyclone-prone areas.

The pool is backed by a A$10bn ($6.4bn) government guarantee and commenced operations in July 2022, with a view to reducing premiums in territories including Queensland, Northern Territory and Western Australia.
