HCI assumes over 53,750 Citizens policies amounting to $196mn in-force premium

Floridian carrier HCI Group will assume 53,750 policies from Florida’s state-backed insurer Citizens Property Insurance, as it continues expanding its business in the state.

The policies amount to around $196mn of in-force premium. The assumption will be effective as of November 21 and is based on an approval given in September 2023 by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
