The sidecar segment was all set for a modest revival as of the 1 January 2024 reinsurance renewal, according to the sentiment that came through at Monte Carlo in September.

Signs were that returns were running comfortably in the double digits, with some sidecar vehicles poised to post “north of 20%”, according to one reinsurance executive.
