Cat bond rates fell by around 10% but remain attractive for both buyers and sellers, as the 1 January renewal resulted in a positive outcome for both reinsurers and cedants, according to Howden.

In its annual market report, published this morning, the broker noted “nuanced conditions” across the (re)insurance market due to macroeconomic and geopolitical risks as well as a broad reset of loss expectations.
